Paddington Village Heat Network – Liverpool

Paddington Village heat network is owned by Liverpool City Council and has been providing heat and private wire electricity to a major new city center development since March 2021.

Our team have been lead Project Manager right through the design, procurement, and construction stages. We now have an ongoing role as Network Manager, responsible for the networks operation, administration, new connections, securing grant funding, decarbonisation, and future expansion.

Small Repeatable Heat Networks

Small repeatable heat networks provide an innovative solution to the widespread viability of low carbon heat to buildings in cities, towns, and even villages.

Our team led a detailed research project to develop and test the concept from both a technical and commercial perspective. There was a specific focus on economies of scale through repetition, the use of geothermal heat, and reducing the impact of heat electrification on local electricity networks.

The 18 month programme was funded by Innovate UK, and formed part of the Liverpool Net Zero Living programme. The work demonstrated the viability of the concept, and showed its potential for widespread adoption across the UK.

Heat Network Zoning – Liverpool

Harbour Project Management have been involved in the development of heat network zoning in Liverpool since 2021. This has seen the city take part in two stages of DESNZ pilot programmes, and led to Liverpool becoming one of the first cities to launch a procurement to select a Zonal Developer.

Our ongoing role to support the city of Liverpool has included the day to day project management of zoning activities, the development of the initial zonal project, and the provision of strategic advice.
