Case Studies
Paddington Village Heat Network – Liverpool
Paddington Village heat network is owned by Liverpool City Council and has been providing heat and private wire electricity to a major new city center development since March 2021.
Our team have been lead Project Manager right through the design, procurement, and construction stages. We now have an ongoing role as Network Manager, responsible for the networks operation, administration, new connections, securing grant funding, decarbonisation, and future expansion.
Church of England Net Zero Carbon – Liverpool
Liverpool Diocese has committed to achieving Net Zero Carbon 2030 across its buildings, which include 250 churches, 120 schools, and the 5th largest Cathedral in the world.
In the summer of 2021, our team helped to establish the strategy for achieving this challenging goal and have been heavily involved in its implementation ever since. Although a large focus of ours is on technical solutions to buildings, for this project we also helped develop strategic approaches set within complex organisational structures to facilitate technical delivery.
Heat Network Zoning
New heat network legislation is to be introduced to England in 2025. This would form designated ‘heat network zones’ within which rights would be granted to ‘Zone Developers’ to build and operate heat networks. Powers would be granted to require certain buildings to connect, and for waste heat sources to be made available. The aim is to accelerate heat network delivery to provide low-cost low-carbon heat to densely populated areas.
Harbour Project Management have been involved in the development of zoning since 2021 through two stages of pilot programmes. Our ongoing role to support the city of Liverpool is set to continue through 2024.
